One of the things that strikes visitors to Napier is the flowers. There are flowers everywhere around the City centre. These are in the gardens on Marine Parade. I don't know what they are and I don't have a book of New Zealand Flowers although these may not necessarily be indigenous anyway.

Don't know what they are but surely they've got to be called cock's combs.
ReplyDeleteThe bird-of-paradise flower (Strelitzia reginae),also know as a crane flower....garden in Tarbert was full of them!!!
ReplyDelete(That's a wee Deborah joke)
How unobservant you are. There has been a large glass vase full of Bird of Paradise flowers at the top of the stairs at Sealladh Innis for about a year. How many tiames have you been up those stairs - to fix the compputer? I hasten to add they are not real ones but very lifelike anyway. The real ones are very waxy and look artificial anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. Now we know what they are. 'Unobservant'. That's interesting. I know there is a vase of flowers there but I cannot visualise them at all. In fact this is something about which I shall blog in due course.
ReplyDeleteWere you concentrating so much on your hard drive when you were going upstairs that you didn't spot the flowers?
