Away Again

Some of you will have seen it before but this is the view from my bed before 7am on a morning like today:

and a little later as the sun rises above the rim of the bowl in which The Cottage is situated.

Today I'm off to Tauranga to visit a friend who has invited me to her Aftermas gathering.  Hopefully I'll manage lots of photos of the journey.  In the meantime I'll leave you with a photo of the Highland Bull in the paddock in front of The Cottage with a Mynah Bird on its back.

  4. What a view, I love it.
Also, I don't know how long ago your post was that had a photo of a kingfisher but I just wanted to tell you, I really liked it!

  5. The horns of that Highland bull look rather menacing, but at least he still has a friend along for the ride.
Here we have cattle egrets that stay with the cows to eat the bugs off of them.
Loved the wake up views..you are lucky to have them from your bed. I have to get out of bed and walk to my front patio for my views.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip. Any excuse to party I say, so enjoy the Aftermas get-together.

    1. In reality Virginia I'm rarely in bed and awake long enough to appreciate the view but sometimes I take my first cup of hot water and lemon back to bed just to appreciate it. Highland cattle are actually supposed to be the gentlest of creatures but I have seen the odd incident between them and I wouldn't have liked to have been in the way!

  7. It's a wonderful bull. I had a pet Mynah bird as a child. It provided endless entertainment repeating rude words. I took it to school on pets day....not a wise move in retrospect.

    1. I'm not sure whether they are the same Mynah birds - the ones I saw kept as pets were large and black if I recall correctly - but these are wonderful mimics so they may be related.

  8. Such a peaceful view out your window! Perhaps most mornings should start there with hot water and lemon? And a deep breath.
The bull is fabulous! I imagine having the minah running around on his back feels like a great scratch!
    Have a great trip!
