These beaches are beautiful indeed, but I seldom see people. Is the water too cold for swimming?
ReplyDeleteNo Jill. The water is great for swimming. There are only 4.5 million people living in New Zealand and it has a vast coastline with lots and lots of beautiful beaches. If you went to a beach near Auckland (our largest city) it would be crowded.
DeleteBreathtaking beach photos...reminds me of Robinson Crusoe...loved that first photo a LOT. I may have to ask permission to enlarge and hang in my home.
ReplyDeletePeaceful, tranquil and away from the cares of the world.....no shoes necessary.
That's very kind of you Virginia. Thank you for the compliment.
DeleteThese photos speak for themselves. I like how you name the place and then we just enjoy the photos
ReplyDeleteThanks Red.
DeleteI really like the penultimate photograph. It looks hard work does all that walking on sand.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adrian. It was very hard on the soft parts because you sank right in and finding the harder parts was a full-time occupation. It was very warm though and a wonderful walk. We'd had to wade through a tidal creek to get to it and there was a three hour window of opportunity which was fine for us but the fishermen (and lady in skirt!) might have had a bit of a race to get back ok.
DeleteGorgeous images Geeb. Just gorgeous. I watched 'Local Hero' again tonight with Anne, and the beaches are nice around 'Furness' (Arisaig and Mallaig) but ours are warmer!
ReplyDeleteA good film in good company: perfect. Thanks for the comment Katherine.
DeleteWonderful photos! (and you're envious of my smoked salmon...)
ReplyDeleteThank you Frances. Sometimes I can be very thick: smoked salmon?
DeleteYou envied my smoked salmon sandwich over at my place. At least, I think it was you....
DeleteI'm sorry Frances I don't recall that. However that might well be more to do with my memory than the accuracy of your comment.
DeleteLove the Houhora shots. So glad we waited for the tide to go out so we could go for that walk.
ReplyDeleteMe too Pauline. It was pure dead bril (as they say in Liverpool!).
DeleteBeautiful, and all the more so because there are hardly any people about.
ReplyDeleteOne thing about the beaches of Northland Meike is that there are very few people on most of them except, perhaps, in some of the built-up holiday areas (and even then it's all relative).
DeleteLooks like someone vanished into thin air in the first photo :) I think the third one is my favourite among these. And I've come to recognize that long cloud as typically New Zeland-ish... right??
