The Journey From Dannevirke

As a change from the written word here are a few photos from the car window (I wasn't driving) on the way home from the croquet tournament in Dannevirke a week or so ago.

The central ranges down the spine of the North Island under big skies
Remnants of snow on the ranges - telephoto from moving vehicle through the haze.
Just a pic
Fairly typical Hawkes Bay farmstead between Wairoa and Hastings

  1. I like the "just a pic"... Lovely colours and good composition with the tree slightly off-centre. Also interesting to see the place typical of your area, in the last photo. And it's all so GREEN... (Here, it's all white now! - been snowing for two days...)

    1. Everything is very green just now Monica because there's been lots of rain and quite a lot of warmth and sun too.

  4. These photos are wonderful.
I have never been to New Zealand but I have a great fondness for New Zealand butter! (I only have it when I am in England.)
You are one lucky guy, aren't you?

    1. Yes, Kay. I'm exceptionally lucky. It's a very small world isn't it: you eating NZ butter in England - quite a lot of travelling involved there one way and another.

  5. Gorgeous pictures! We are having clouds here in Sicily too these days but they are gray and black, bringing so much rain and you can't imagine the wind. Trapani is the "windy city" of Sicily.

    1. I have lived most of my life on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland's Outer Hebrides Francesca. I understand wind. In 2005 the gusts reached 147mph/236kph and destroyed my conservatory. Usually here in Hawkes Bay where I live in New Zealand the wind is moderate. It's been gale force today but very hot (30℃) and in Auckland we had a tornado and people were killed.

  6. Imagine if you were standing still and had the time/capacity to focus your shots......smile.
They're all lovely to behold in my eyes.
I loved the remnants of snow on the mountain ranges.

    1. Many shots that CJ and I take are opportunistic. I'm usually driving so can't take them from the car but on this occasion I was a passenger.
