Thankful Thursday

I cannot believe that I have spent five nights (albeit only four days) back here at The Cottage.  The time has flown by with hardly a second to spare.  Indeed I still haven't put all my clothes on their hangers in the wardrobe yet.  Usually I have emptied The Cupboard and put everything back where it belongs before I go to bed on the first night.  I arrived too late on Saturday this time and by the time I went to bed the bedroom was a chaotic mess.  Since then somehow life has overtaken me.

The living room clock changed earlier in the year when the last one ceased to function but the reminders of friends and, in particular a friend in a far place, welcomed me back.

As did Comet:

Then there was wine and chocolates and a note from the lady who had rented The Cottage for the last few months and Wendy had put in flowers from the garden

So today I am thankful for the welcome back that I have received from everyone.  There are few things more comforting and reassuring in life than a sense of belonging.

  1. Oh dear. Looks like you've got one or two things left to do before everything's back in place. Well the most important thing is that YOU are, though! (Comet seems to think so too)

    1. I have indeed, Monica, got some things left to do: not least of which is catching up with my Third World that is Blogland.

    2. Graham, the beauty of Blogland is that you can access it from either one of your other worlds. We're here and will be just as thrilled as the cat to have you 'back' :)

    1. Thanks Jaz. It's now Sunday and my first 'day off' so to speak. I can't believe that I haven't visited my blog since your comment.

  3. GB, don't worry, you will have everything sorted back out to your liking by weekend I'm sure.
Love Comet the cat...what a lovely welcome. Black and white cats are the smartest.
You do remember that Lindt chocolates are my favourite....are you sure you will be needing them???? smile.
How thoughtful of everyone to welcome you back with nice gifts.....loved the flowers too.
The clock in my office looks exactly like that one in your living room...mine works really well...I like the big hands because I can see them from afar.
    Welcome back "home"!!

    1. It's now the weekend Virginia - in fact it's almost over where I am. I've spent today trying to catch up. I think I may almost have succeeded.

  4. Lovely post GB. I also laughed - 'life has just over-taken me' is my excuse for having a thoroughly messy house!

    1. Dear Yvonne. You need an excuse? I've given up on excuses for my desire for tidiness.

  6. Comet's welcome is lovely - as is finding wine, chocolate, flowers and a friendly note!
Everything else is just "things"... and as long as it doesn't bother YOU, there is certainly no need for stressing yourself out about putting them into their respective places.

    1. You are, as always, logical and correct but, unfortunately, the only person who is bothered is me!

  7. That's awfully nice. I'm glad COmet remembered you. I will look forward to more NZ missives! (and I hate packing my stuff into cupboards and drawers too. )

    1. I fear though, Jenny, that with Comet it is cupboard love: food is, I suspect, the true motive.

  8. I've spent the evening cuddling a cat too... and I would definitely love to share some of those chocolates - ha.
I can just see you settling in back to your cottage life. There's plenty of time for getting organised when you get around to it.
