NZ electric socket |
I was looking at one of the sockets in The Cottage today and it suddenly occurred to me that it looked decidedly unhappy. That really is a sad face isn't it? It's also upside down (when compared with the socket's in my Scottish home). The UK socket really has no personality at all. Ho hum.
UK electric socket |
How interesting! I always thought ours looked surprised and slightly concerned. I'll post a pic tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI shall pop over and have a look Rae.
DeleteThey are rather sad looking.
ReplyDeletePS. Of course they are upside down the whole country is from where I'm standing.
DeleteIt's OK for you Adrian. I have to walk around with suckers on my feet so I don't fall off.
DeleteOh I don't know there is a certain personality in those sockets...I think they might be offended...they look rather upset with their eyes downcast!
ReplyDeleteYes Serenata the downcast eyes sockets from my Cottage in New Zealand are the ones I think have personality. The UK ones are rather unfacelike although I suppose if they were installed upside down it would make them more interesting.
DeleteOh tis a sad socket. In the USA ours don't have a personality, like your UK sockets.
ReplyDeleteI know this sounds silly Terra but I can't recall what a US socket looks like apart from the fact that the plug that fits in has two small flat prongs.
DeleteUnhappy indeed, poor little things!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how you interpret the typical German one:

If I half close my eyes Meike I can pretend that the sockets are eyes and the bottom earth is a sticking out tongue making your socket a rather cheeky little chap (why are females never described as cheeky? or are they?).
DeleteI don't know if I would rather watch a depressed socket or a no personality socket :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll try and forget its personality and just keep on sticking plugs in! Problem is that once a silly though has occurred to one then it tends to recur.
DeleteOh, that made me laugh! Have you ever seen the "Mr. Bill" segment on Saturday Night Live? It's been so many years since I've watched it, it may not even be on anymore for all I know. But that's what the NZ socket reminds me of. "Oh, no, Mr. Bill!" Either way, nice call for being so observant! I love those kinds of finds.
ReplyDeleteNo Lisa I haven't seen Saturday Night Live. I rather like seeing the silly side of things too. It's probably the result of having a serious job when I worked.
Delete...and our electrical outlets are not the same as these. How do we ever get along when we travel?
ReplyDeleteIn the days when I travelled a lot I always carried a converter for the country I was in (in fact I had a number of universal ones). Nowadays with so much equipment requiring a plug eg for charging mobile devices ,one would need an armoury of converters. At least living into countries I always have the correct cabling for the country I am in.
DeleteIt sure looks sad with those downcast "eyes."
ReplyDeleteSure does Virginia.
DeleteI think it looks sleepy and yawning!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see that before, Monica, but now that you mention it.....
DeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one to see faces in odd places.
ReplyDeleteNot at all Frances but you have a rather special ability in that regard.
DeleteHa! You're right. And...I like your sockets. Ours are extremely boring, here in the U.S. (VT area), but still do have some character - with a face. Although, in our home - some are right side up and some are upside down (because the people who put them in, did not know what they were doing and did not care much).
ReplyDeleteJust like life Heather: some people are upside down (like me in NZ) and some the right way up!
DeleteTired and yawning, read for bed. Come on GB!!! Optimism!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteAlways the optimist Jaz. A PP (Positive Person) just like you!
