One of the most well-known names in aviation history must be the de Havilland Tiger Moth.  8868 were built between 1932 and 1944.  Here are two of the very many survivors:

DeleteIt must be (one of the most well-known names in aviation history), because even I remember it. Mind you, back in my youth I read my father's old Biggles books when visiting my grandparents!
