Moving House

I've blogged before about moving house.  When we were coming home yesterday we came across a house being moved during the day.  They are usually moved in the early morning when traffic is at its least.  However out on the main highway in the ranges the move presumably is made during the day because it would simple be too dangerous at night. 

PS Please note the shorts being worn by the hardy roadman in the last photo.  Perhaps my dark raspberry shorts which I've been forbidden to wear are not so bad after all.

House Blocks Road

Quirky little item on the News this morning.  In the UK this would sound weird.  Here it’s just a traffic warning.  A lorry transporting a house being moved during the night (which is when houses are moved because the roads are quiet) broke down.  Oops.  That’ll be fun during the morning.  I think it was on a State Highway and not in the middle of a town somewhere.  That could cause a bit of a rush hour problem!

Moving House

In Wanganui we went up to the Durie Hill Elevator Tower.  From there one has the most marvellous views across Wanganui.  What really took my eye, however, was just below the tower where there was a house which was about to move.  I blogged about moving house last year. This was the first one I'd seen since then and, looking at the location, how they were going to get it away from the site completely escaped me.
