Evening Clouds

On the way home from Palmerston North as we came towards Napier on the Tikokino road we were met with wonderful cloud formations and an enchanting evening sky with a low moon:

A Most Peculiar Sky

A few nights ago I was just about to wander up to The House just before sunset when I realised that the sky and the countryside had a heavy golden tinge to it.  I knew that taking a photo in such light would be difficult and this doesn't really do it justice but it's the best I could achieve:

Evening Light

On Tuesday at Croquet everyone was commenting on the eerie pink light of the previous evening. This was it from my deck. Eerie it certainly was. Pink it certainly was. There is an artist who painted landscapes in a similar light but I can't recall who it was. Any ideas?
