The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services’ Association is the New Zealand equivilent of the British Legion in the UK. It is one of the largest voluntary welfare organisations in New Zealand and one of the longest established ex-service organisations in the world. Today over 130,000 members throughout New Zealand share a common commitment to the Crown, the Nation and the Community; dedicated to the RSA motto – ‘People Helping People’
The Clubs are all over the Country and provide a social meeting place not only for people from the place were they are situated but also for visitors. One thing one can be guaranteed in any RSA is a welcome and good, inexpensive sustenance.
This one in the Taradale suburb of Napier (there are several in Napier) has a wonderful decorated wall depicting 'people helping people'.
