Might be partly to do with hormones? I seem to recall that we generally have somewhat higher temperature in the daytime/evening and that it's usually at its lowest in the early morning. I assume that there was no way, just from an examination, of telling what the underlying cause of the bronchitis was: it could have been viral or bacterial. The interesting thing was that the fever broke during the night just they way it used to when I was a child. I can recall my Mother sitting up with her Mother during the 'crisis' and coming downstairs to announce that the fever had broken and she'd eventually be ok. Of course that was a much worse illness than I had and without all the modern advantages of fever-relieving drugs like paracetamol.GBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10289400344300258872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-495553397518653924.post-90120741505183831262013-11-19T08:13:01.664+13:002013-11-19T08:13:01.664+13:00I agree Frances. I have absolutely no complaints about either. You are probably correct though Jenny. There is no culture of blame in the way that there is in the US and, now, the UK. I despair of the attitude that it's always someone else's fault. Presumably the doc balanced the damage antibiotics do against the discomfort to me of a good old-fashioned 'crisis'. OK that's being a bit dramatic but I wasn't about to pop my clogs. Sixties: I'm sorry Jenny but my overly-cumbersome verbosity obviously made the reality far more obscure that it really is.
