A Moment of Bliss

I lay in bed writing this post in my head and now I can't even remember the three brilliantly witty titles I thought up never mind the one of them that I decided to use.  I said in a text to a friend yesterday that I was reaching muddle age.  I meant to write 'middle' age but I left it because muddle age seemed so much more appropriate.

Anyway the subject of my thoughts was ribs.  Not in the sense of BBQ ribs but of cracked or broken ones in general and more specifically those belonging to the body that I inhabit.  It's over 6 weeks since the incident when they were injured.  Everyone said it would take at least six weeks for them to heal sufficiently not to cause discomfort.  At around 5.30am this morning I sort of woke and turned over and suddenly realised that I had not let out a yelp which has been the case until then.  At last perhaps I could lie on my 'proper' side?  I could!  It's a small thing in the scheme of things but a very pleasant one.

The view from The Cottage deck
A bit closer.  Is that a car there?  Never seen that before.
Not only is it a car in a strange place but they are pointing at The Cottage.  I wonder why.

  1. Isn't it grand when some bit heals up. Sprained ankles are like that. Weeks of pain then one day they are better.

    2. Oh jeez! Frozen shoulders! I am convinced that mine could kill me... the pain is that bad! However I am a well-known hypochondriac drama queen... :-) Glad that your pain is resolving though.

    3. Oh dear Yvonne. Not good. I recall having a similar shoulder problem years ago and when I went to the doc he said I have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that it will get better. The bad news is that it will take up to two years and one day you will wake and realise you no longer have the problem. It didn't take the two years and then one day his words came back to me because it had gradually improved until one day, ecce!, I suddenly realised that I had no pain. Good luck.

  2. "Look, there's a man down there taking photos of us!" :)
I'm glad your ribs are feeling better. Being able to lie on one's 'proper' side is a good sign of recovery! (says she who just got through the night without a bandage around the knee)

    1. Nice one Monica. He would have had to have superb eyesight. I could hardly see him with the naked eye. What a pair of crocks we are!

  4. Good to know you are feeling better. The long trip to the Hebrides will probably be a bit more comfortable for that.
I am impressed with your camera zoom. Maybe the men are bloggers on a world tour of visiting their blogging friends, and weren't quite sure where to find you.

  5. Hmm... that is a bit disconcerting I would think. I wonder indeed what they are looking at!
Glad to here the rib is healing well and you can now sleep on your 'proper' side, it is amazing what a difference that makes.

  8. Ribs vary, GB. When I broke mine, all I could think was that I had to push out a baby (out of me, that is) very soon, and how would I manage it? But they are a real pain, in every sense, and I hope yours get better very soon.

    1. From my experience (not of giving birth you understand but of being the giver of gas and air in a home birth) pushing out a baby is quite bad enough without having to contend with broken ribs. I spoke too soon about being able to lie on 'that' side. I tried it last night. A while yet I fear but at least I don't wake with a squeal when I turn over.

  9. "Muddle" age, I like that very much, I think I will steal it from you! I am working on a stand-up comedy routine, you know. :-)
What were those folks pointing to from their car? Beautiful scenery? That is what I would do fi I were there!

    1. Yes Kay, "muddle' age was a rather appropriate slip of the thumb. The odd thing about the car is that there is no road there. It's just a paddock. I've never seen any vehicle other than the occasional tractor over there.

  10. I think the term muddle hits the mark. Ribs? I hope you're right that they don't hurt anymore. it seems that I suffered longer than that. They heal and knit quickly so why do they have to hurt for so long???

    1. Red I spoke too soon about the ribs. They still hurt if I try to lie on them I discovered last night. As to why? One of those many mysteries our bodies present us with I fear.

So glad your ribs are feeling better....it must be great to be able to lie on either side again.
