Being a Tourist in Sydney: Day 3 (Part 1)

Looking back I do wonder how we managed to get so much done in the time available.

We started with a walk to take photos of Coogie Beach just down from Fiona's apartment.
Then we drove South to Marouba Beach where there was more body boarding although the surf was a bit tame for surfing that morning
On to Bare Island, Fort Kamay, Botany Bay
The CBD skyline from The Domain but this time in the sun!
Just to prove that I was there!
The MS Queen Victoria berthed behind the Opera House making both look immense (or small?)
The Wooloomooloo Wharf where Russel Crowe has his penthouse
St Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral.  No photography is allowed inside and I simply cannot recall a single thing about it.
The gift of J F Archibald and erected in 1932 this is a memorial to those lost in the 1914-18 War

  1. Ah! Coogee beach. I would like to say I remember it but one is much like another, I suppose. Still I looked at your picture and imagined my little self there. And glad to see blue rather than grey skies, which had been making me feel rather disillusioned with the idea of Sydney! An excellent picture of you too!

    1. To be honest Jenny I only remember Coogee because I could see it from the balcony of Fiona's apartment.

    1. Carol it's a few years since I went body boarding. In fact if anyone wants an unused wetsuit......

  3. I like the "Just to prove that I was there" photo, but a lovely downtown Sydney backdrop in a photographer's studio would be just as good, so I'm not fooled.

    1. Ah you guessed Virginia! Actually why pay a photographer for his studio when reality is so much better?

  4. I have to say you're not really selling it to me, GB. Apart from the sun, of course.

    1. I'm not sure that I set out to sell Sydney Frances. I liked it up to a point but it's a city and I'm not a country person. Many of these pictures form the 'diary' part of my blog.

  5. I love the colours in the second photo. I also like the one to prove you were there. Besides filling that purpose, it is a nicely framed photo (compliments to the photographer, whoever took it). And you've certainly fulfilled my wishes to see the Opera House from various angles! :) The skyline with all the skyscrapers is of the kind I find rather intimidating... As much as I'm not a countryside girl, I'm not a Very Big City girl either. (Borås has 100,000 inhabitants, compared to Sydney's 4,6 million...)

    1. Monica Borås has about the same population as Napier/Hastings which is manageable for me although, as you know, I don't actually live in the town.

  6. I've been saying I should go to Australia for years. After seeing your photos I have to do something about it.

    1. Well, Red, Australia's not really that far away these days and there';s never been a better time for reasonably priced flights.
