Today's The Day

I get back into Blogland.  Mind you I thought that yesterday but 'twas not to be.  The forecast for today is heavy showers and then rain and the rest of the week is supposed to be worse.  C'est la vie.  Hunkering down is something I can do for a few days quite happily.  I know that I need to be back.  Usually I wake to 20 to 30 emails (a lot more if I've been very active in Blogland) in the in-boxes spread amongst my 17 email accounts (I use different accounts for different purposes and it restricts the spam to the one I use for travel - travel companies seem to be targets for spam or some of them sell their huge email subscriptions).  Today I woke to not a single email.  I can't recall that happening before.  I had to refresh my POP mail 3 times before I'd believe it.  Mind you a friend has emailed me whilst I've been writing this paragraph so at least I know that my mail is working.  One thing I have noticed over the years is that, as a rule, I get far fewer emails at weekends and I have a perception that there is less blog posting too at weekends.  I wonder why.  Do people spend more family time and/or go out more at weekends?

  1. GB they have lives on the weekend! I've noticed the same thing when I check the blogs I follow. Often no new posts on the weekends.

    1. Thanks Jill. I now know I'm not alone in the world! I thought what you say might be the case. It is so long since I could differentiate between weekdays and the weekend I'd almost forgotten there once was a difference!

  2. tis true for us retirees...sometimes, no many times I check either my cell phone or computer to see the day or date. I think it's what you said...both of them. As a teacher, I had only Sunday free, and part of it was spent at Mass.

  3. I post every day. But, I have to admit, sometimes (often weekends) I cheat and post retrospectively.

  4. Earth Hour disrupted peoples online activities?

  5. Gosh, if I had 17 email accounts it would take me all weekend to remember them all. I think most people (even bloggers) have a life at weekends, not that I'm included most weekends.
    Good to see you back!

  6. Oddly enough, I find it is the other way round - more posting going on on weekends, when people have more leisure, while sometimes on a working day, I find very little news on my dashboard. The same is true for me; especially on those weekends when I am on my own, I have a lot more time to read and write than when I am working or when RJ is here.
As for the 17 email accounts - three (one for work, two for life outside work) are plenty for me.

  7. I think I tend to agree with you, Graham. Usually less of everything over the weekends.

  8. Ah, mystery solved. Jill is the unknown follower on lejardinierecossais blog. I did wonder. Anyway, it's a boring blog, as I write it (occasionally) only when I'm in France, and I'm not.
