No Consolation

When you can't remember something, or something unpleasant happens to you how often do people say "The consolation is you are not alone."?  I'm sorry.  If I can't remember something then it may be old age creeping up or the fact that I have always had a poor (ok a really, really bad) memory.  It is definitely NO consolation at all that I'm not alone.  I don't like having a bad memory, full stop.

  2. It may feel like a poor consolation to be told that others are suffering too. It's not exactly the instant kind of help. Looking at the bigger picture, though... "Not being alone" does sometimes make a difference.

  3. Interestingly, Ian and I have just started an online memory course. It's very time intensive, but we're really hoping that it will enable us to remember all those things we usually forget (just remembering peoples names, phone numbers and birthdays would be a huge relief for me)

  5. Actually, my memory is SO bad, that I do find consolation in the fact that I'm not alone. Hahaha! I'm trying to find a way to improve it.

  6. I agree with Dawn Treader and Shabby Girl. I find great consolation in knowing others are the same - and some are worse! It's true. I remember ...once...meeting someone who...darn I can't remember..

  7. That's the sort of consolation that only works when people aren't trying to convince you of how much it works.
